Welcome!

WELCOME TO SRDC-WA

In 2003, the African Diaspora was constituted as the Sixth Region (see below) to encourage the participation of global African people.  Specifically, the African Diaspora consists of people of African origin living outside the Continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality, and who are willing to contribute to the development of the Continent and the building of the African Union. Learn more about the African Union here.

The Sixth Region Diaspora Caucus (SRDC) was formed in 2006 in response to the African Union invitation to the African Diaspora: “… invite and encourage the full participation of the African Diaspora as an important part of our Continent, in the building of the African Union.”

SRDC sees as part of its mission to help organize the African Diaspora for engagement on the African continent, and for collaborating and networking with other Diasporan organizations on a global scale for joint projects (economic, humanitarian and youth skill development). Here in our Washington state chapter – SRDC-WA – we are working on that mission right now. We are currently shipping high-quality donated school furniture to several African countries. Read about it here.

In order for us to be unified, we need organization, which requires leadership. We need the wisdom of our elders and the tenacity and direction of our leaders. We also need the promise of our Youth! And by dealing directly with Africa, as the Sixth Region-USA, we will begin to realize our true strength as a united people. Let us begin by organizing ourselves, here in the United States of America and throughout the Western Hemisphere.

We invite and encourage your participation in the SRDC-WA Chapter. We meet weekly in the South End of Seattle. Join our organization now or you can contact us for further details.
